Hello! My name is Simba. I’m a self-directed and self-motivated individual who thrives to achieve the best at all times. I am a qualified and passionate teacher with 9 years teaching experience in various countries including South Africa and China. I have a Bachelors degree in Business administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in tertiary education and a certificate in Teaching English as a foreign language. I decided to pursue teaching because I like influencing and impacting other people’s lives positively. I’m a strong believer that education empowers students to handle complex life problems easier and better. Knowing that I have the power to help create a better society keeps me going. No better feeling than this!

I taught Business studies, Accounting Science and was a soccer coach in South Africa. My primary responsibilities as a teacher were to prepare and plan well-structured lessons appropriate for the students and the syllabus being taught. I’m a teacher who strongly  believes that students create knowledge from their environments and experiences; hence using practical examples in lessons helps students to understand better. My teaching approach during my tenure enabled me to win two consecutive awards for best Business Studies teacher in the local district.

After my time in South Africa, I relocated to China where I taught English (as a secondlanguage) to learners of different ages.  It was an interesting and exciting experience.

I used interactive and engaging activities to make learning fun and immersive. I found that kids learn better if they're enjoying the learning environment and are actively engaged. During my time in China, I won an award for Best Uprising Star as well as a Teaching Competition. I was, also, involved in the training and development of new teachers and wrote a couple of articles about teaching English as a second language.

I enjoy traveling and learning new cultures. I’ve had a priceless opportunity to learn the Chinese culture and enjoy the delicious Chinese cuisine. One of my favorite dishes is fried rice cakes mixed with vegetables.  I’m a sports fanatic and enjoy playing sports, myself. In my spare time, I am usually running, cycling, playing tennis, hiking, swimming and/or playing soccer. I’ve had the privilege to create a social network in Cixi with sports enthusiasts and I also play soccer for one of the local clubs.

In a nutshell, I am an enthusiastic and passionate teacher who is excited to continue developing my life-long teaching journey.
